Your Testing Pathway
A clear, supportive step-by-step journey from your initial booking through to receiving your results.
Initial Consultation
45-minute virtual consultation
Meet with an HCPC/AHCS-registered genetic counsellor. Together, we will review your personal and family medical history, discuss whether genetic testing is appropriate for you, and explain the benefits and limitations of the tests available.
Not everyone who seeks genetic counselling will need genetic testing. Our role is to help you understand your options and decide whether testing is likely to be beneficial for you.
There is no obligation to proceed with genetic testing following your consultation. Our priority is to provide clear, impartial advice based on your individual circumstances.
Consent & Test Selection
If genetic testing is appropriate, we'll recommend the test that best answers your clinical question, explain why we've chosen it, and guide you through the informed consent process so you can decide whether to proceed.
Sample Collection
Home saliva kit delivered within 2 working days
Most tests require only a saliva sample, which can usually be collected at home using a kit we send directly to you.
Laboratory Testing
Results available within 3-4 weeks for panel tests
Your sample is analysed in a UKAS-accredited laboratory using internationally recognised quality standards, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
Results & Post-Test Counselling
Follow-up appointment arranged as soon as your results are available
Once your results are available, you'll meet with your genetic counsellor to discuss what they mean for you and your family. We'll explain your results in clear language, answer your questions, discuss any recommended screening or preventative measures, and provide ongoing support where needed.
Where appropriate and in line with your preferences, we can refer you to NHS or private healthcare providers for ongoing care and management.
